a graph showing the acceleration of change of $3 billion in revenue achieved in one year from ai vs 10 years from saas companies

In Wednesday’s issue of On My Mind, I shared Sequoia Capital’s recent keynote, in which they discussed how generative AI brings in $3 billion in revenue while SaaS companies took 10 years to achieve that.

Imagine if you could accelerate your growth by 10x with simple, easily accessible AI tools.

Imagine reaching record revenue without having to hire new team members, pay ridiculous amounts for services, or spend 10 years learning how to acquire new skills.

This is achievable using generative AI. Companies utilizing AI are getting ahead and will pace to lead theie peers.

The sheer scale of user pull and revenue momentum has surprised just about everybody. The rate and magnitude of the change have made it very clear to us that generative AI is here to stay.

why you should take ai seriously

For those of us working hard to convince AI skeptics, the list of benefits is growing every day. To name a few:

  • OpenAI, an industry leader whom you probably know for their ChatGPT bot, is generating ~$1.3 billion/year in revenue
  • Consulting and research firm McKinsey claims that AI could potentially boost corporate profits by $4.4 trillion annually, increasing labor productivity and automating work
  • McKinsey also found that marketing and sales, in particular, contained the most regularly reported uses of generative AI

And the beauty of AI tools is that most can be implemented easily, quickly, and cheaply. It’s possible you’re using AI tools that you didn’t even realize were run by AI (for example, if you’ve scrolled customer reviews on Amazon recently, you may notice their AI-generated summaries helping you decide on a purchase).

AI tools are easily scalable, meaning that you can just start and let them grow with you. Here are a few ways you can start integrating AI into your work today 👇

how to integrate ai into your work today

If you want to get started with AI tools today, here’s a checklist with some easy first steps:

◻️ Try asking a free AI chatbot for help with something – ex. use Google’s Gemini or Bing Chat to ask for 3 content ideas

◻️ Sign up for advanced AI chatbot models, like OpenAI’s ChatGPT Plus or Anthropic’s ClaudeAI

◻️ Test features for regular tools you’re already using to see if they’re incorporating AI in any way, like Slack’s AI, Notion AI, Asana Intelligence, Gmail, and Office 365

◻️ Play around with AI-generated image creation tools to expedite your work, story board ideas, and create images via Midjourney and Dall-E 3

Quiz: Find the right AI tool for your business

If you want to integrate AI into your overall marketing strategy, you might want to slow down to speed up by considering a few things:

Is your company really ready to include AI in your day-to-day processes? To avoid potential headaches, it can be helpful to make sure everyone’s on board (legal, IT, leadership) with the strategy and where AI can be tested with the least risk. AI won’t fix all of your problems. So, if you’ve been thinking that it could be the shakeup you need to solve an ongoing issue, think again.

Be ready to test, pivot, and iterate. AI can provide amazing benefits, but only if you know how to lead it. Don’t sweat it – you’re probably not going to get the right mix off the bat. AI is meant to be tweaked and experimented with. Let your results, data, and audience help lead your path, and don’t be afraid of failure.

Think of AI as your new collaborative team member. AI is most powerful when it’s backed up by human brainpower. Left to its own devices, AI will make mistakes and produce unhelpful results. Instead of outsourcing all of your processes to it up front, consider it like you would any other employee. Take time to train it, refine it, and work together towards the same goal.
