Reduce Friction 😰
AI, when used for workplace purposes, can often come with a slew of security and logistical concerns. IT loves to add barriers, such as two-factor authentication – I’m dealing with this at the moment.
But what can you do to reduce friction?
Maybe you can set up a shared Google Gemini Pro account across your team to play around. Or perhaps you can start by using AI features in tools you’re already working with – like Slack’s AI assistant or Adobe’s Firefly image generator.
Put your efforts into just getting started with AI, however possible.
Eat the Elephant in Small Bites 🐘
It’s so, so easy to overwhelm your team with AI tools, reports, classes, studies, and videos. Especially if you’re an AI-obsessed nerd like me.
Making AI accessible to your team is key, even if that means showing off its potential in small doses.
How do your team members like to learn?
Consider sharing different types of media. Short-form videos, blogs, or social posts are all easy, quick resources that might be less overwhelming and more easily consumable.
Here’s one of my favorite videos of the week, comparing the intelligence of GPT-4o and Claude 3:
Don’t Get Swept Up in FOMO 🌊
FOMO is incredibly common with AI and emerging tech. Once you get obsessed, you’ll be buzzing with ideas and ways to utilize AI tools throughout your work process.
But stop to ask yourself: what AI tools or systems are most useful for my team and work?
This video was another one of my favorites of the week:
Essentially, in it, tech expert Matt Ferrell reminds us that AI isn’t new. Tech companies love to hype up their latest products, making them seem revolutionary and inducing FOMO.
But not much is that revolutionary, so you’re better off staying the course on what works for you, not just jumping on the buzziest new tool.
AI is definitely a loud noise at the moment, so make sure to practice empathy when you’re talking with your teams who aren’t as AI-savvy. Help them by:
- Making it easy to try it out;
- Reducing friction wherever possible;
- Eating the elephant in small bites; and
- Ignoring the noise & FOMO.
