In early tech reviews for the two platforms, GPT-4o seems to be the clear favorite over Gemini 1.5 Pro.Tech site Beebom tested many commonsense reasoning and multimodal tests on both models, and GPT-4o performs much better than Gemini across the board, including in reasoning, code generation, multimodal understanding, and more.
GPT-4o created a Python game in one test within seconds, while Gemini failed to generate the correct code.
Just a simple glance at this evaluation graph shows that GPT-4o is often above other leading AI models.
In fact, some may argue that Anthropic’s Claude 3 Opus may be a better competitor to GPT-4o than Gemini Pro 1.5… but that’s for another day.
Tom’s Guide even calls GPT-4o’s Mac App a “game-changer” as it more accurately and quickly provides responses that can help regular daily actions, such as generating copy for a social post, responding to an email, or providing ideas for a meeting.

You can now upload a whopping 2 hours of video, a week’s worth of Zoom meetings, or up to 60,000 lines of code. This is perfect for marketers who deal with large volumes of data or video.
Google also released Content Caching at a lower cost, making it more accessible for regular use. Lower content caching is designed to help the AI retain more information over longer sessions, great for those deep-dive marketing analyses.
No matter your use case, it’s clear GPT-4o is the current general use front-runner in the AI landscape… but don’t discount Gemini 1.5 just yet. Google invented much of this technology and the AI battle is just starting.
